About this deal

Perform live with studio-quality voice and acoustic guitar processing, impressive real-time vocal harmonies, looping, and more.

But as soon as I add fingerpicking with bass notes and trebles notes and chord splashes and all the things I do without thinking about it, there it is - QUACK. I've been looking at the Boss VE 8 as something that could do what my multiple cheap pedals already do. Subscribe to the Roland Newsletter to get the latest articles, videos, and news about your favorite Roland products. While you can get a good vocal tone and harmonies out of the pedal, the guitar tone customization is atrocious.

This compact module provides you with a range of different controls and functions that allow you to process your vocals and guitar. It’s hard to argue with a pedal that makes it easy to get a great tone no matter what you’re playing. In my opinion, the TC-Helicon Play Acoustic is, hands down, the best overall performer of these pedals. Those extra inputs/outputs on back of VE-8 are not described as use for external looper connections, but the problem is solved if that IS the case. and to me, that foot pedal, say an FS-6 or whatever, makes the VE-8 setup so less compact and tidy which is one if its main virtues, for all it does).

If a tuner/mute should be required before the looper input, any tuner can be used including "true bypass" types. The custom-designed looper within the VE-8 allows you to lay down everything from percussive rhythms to chord progressions and vocal runs. And with the phase switch and notch filter, you have fingertip access for killing any feedback issues the instant they arise. Consider the criteria that’s important to you, listen to other demos, and, if you can, try these pedals out for yourself.Stereo XLR balanced outputs provide a direct feed to the house PA, while stereo 1/4-inch outputs let you send a separate signal to stage monitors or an acoustic amp. A touch of reverb, an occasional "chorus" setting for variety, these things are very easy, for this easily annoyed player.

All said, the plain old set it and forget settings work very well and do stay 'as is' between turning the unit off and the next sessions. He had to learn essentially that the role of the cajon is to support the guitar and voice and build the foundation, everything is about the groove. Say, room reverb on guitar and cathedral reverb on vocal, saved, hit switch to next saved, say, ambient reverb on guitar with hall reverb on vocal. What's more, all these great features are housed within a highly durable chassis, built to withstand all the trials of life on the road. There are also stereo 1/4'' outputs that let you send a separate signal to stage monitors or an amplifier.

With such great sound and powerful creative features at your command, you’re destined to bring down the house everywhere you play.
