If you’re familiar with how the ok’d Blu-Ray looked, the improvements with this 4K disc will be immediately apparent and take you aback. This comes with the proper presentation of the 4K transfer done a few years back as well as a new 5. This release also includes a Blu-ray version which is identical to the 25th anniversary release, with the same menus and incorrect aspect ratio. Clarke is stressed up to his eyeballs over their missing Christmas bonus check, and he distracts himself by becoming the biggest neighborhood nuisance ever with his over exuberant love of twinkle lights (25,000 lights to be exact, including a wiring job that would make any electrician sob).
No matter how much you want to punch Clarke upside the head, you have to admire his passion for family.Blu-ray (reviewed in its Steelbook variant by Michael Reuben) which greatly improved on the image quality of the first Blu-ray. This particular review is covering the seminal 1989 holiday comedy masterwork, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It’s a fantastic film that hits all of the highs and lows of the Christmas craziness, and done in such a hilarious fashion. It’s now the 33rd anniversary of the film’s release, and despite not being a particular milestone, Warner Bros. Honestly, the film looks quite good in 4K with a high level of detail in background shots and consistent grain scale; you’ll also notice that the matte is now presented correctly with the film’s original 1. What makes this movie so timeless is no matter how many times I’ve watched it (and if it’s on TV, I can’t help but put it on if only for a couple of minutes), it is still as funny as it was the last time. track is certainly the way to go as this track offers a bit more punch and presence along with some welcome flourishes into the sides.The good news is that we’ve got this film in 4K with a better-looking picture than in the past (though the bar was set pretty high). The side characters here are all pretty funny, and you can almost see members of your own family in almost every one of them. I think, while utilized slightly less this time around, these 2 iterations of Rusty and Audrey are kind of more memorable in a sense of them being funny characters this time instead of “just the Griswold kids”. But I think there’s a strength here in this film’s ability to relate despite not being fully in tune in your life with the family on screen. track is still an effective mix, so if you find yourself at the inlaws and they’re only rolling that cheap low-rung sound bar they picked up on Black Friday, it should hold together fine. track that many felt was missing from the previous Blu-ray, as well as the original DTS-HD Master Audio 2.Use the thumbs up and thumbs down icons to agree or disagree that the title is similar to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It’s not a night and day difference, like most 4K discs, but for true fans of the movie this is the best it’s ever looked.
