About this deal

My main consideration is the body itself. The top is very thin carbon fiber (so they say). The body seems to be ABS. Examining the inside, there is no bracing of consequence. There are only two 1/8" finger braces across the body, each radiating from a bridge plate. They are a good 1" short of meeting the sides. In fact, under the stress of standard tuning the top deflects 1/8" just above the bridge towards the bass side. Any more deflection would affect intonation and possibly cause separation at the top edge. It would seem that one of the main functions of carbon fiber would be to resist bending. The top to side lining is partially kerfed on corners but mostly just a thin strip of plastic. There is plenty of cement squeeze out and run. On the other hand, the brass strings on this guitar deliver a bright metallic sound. It’s also easy to play, so playability isn’t an issue, either. Its impressive tonal quality and brighter sound also make it perfect for a variety of playing styles and guitar playing skill levels.

Donner electric guitars are solid beginner and budget guitars. They offer great value, often come with accessories, are usually smooth playing, and sound good. Of course, sometimes Donner guitars suffer from budget guitar problems such as: When you decide to start learning to play guitar the initial step is to shop for your first instrument. But choosing the right guitar can be confusing and challenging when starting your journey to be a guitarist. There are many aspects to take into account, from the price to the playability and sound of the instrument.

MSRP: (UK) £279 / (US) $299

In general, they are no worse than other cheap guitars but don’t expect perfection either. Are Donner Guitars Good for Beginners? As this is a full-size guitar, it is also not suitable for children who want to learn to play the guitar. It feels pretty big even in my hand as I am used to playing electric guitars. This guitar will feel too big for small children, demotivating them as it would be harder to learn anything. Donner DAG-1C has some related models that have minor nuances between each other. The model series include DAG-1, DAG-1S, DAG-1 CS, DAG-1B, DAG-1CL, DAG-1CE, and DAG-1M. Since the saddle of the DAG-1C model is made out of plastic, it is not the best one to enhance the sound. An upgrade to a compensated saddle from Graph Tech, for instance, will create a big difference in sound. Compensated saddles set each string’s intonation to help produce the best possible tone and performance. Of course, as a low-budget guitar, it has some cheap parts such as the saddle and the nut that need to be upgraded. There are also some sharp fret edges, but it is not a serious issue.

The guitar has an 18.1” (460 mm) long fretboard with dot inlays on 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th, and 17th frets. The good-looking frets were well polished and without many sharp edges out of the box. As an avid guitarist with over 15 years of experience, I often get asked for recommendations on good starter guitars. In my search for quality, budget-friendly models for beginners, the Donner brand stands out for impressive sound at an affordable price. Donner DAG-1CE model is the natural wood color variation that comes with the cutaway shape. It is the same model as DAG-1C but has a built-in preamp. Impossible to play out of the box. Action was probably 1/4” or more. Needed a lot of setup. To get to the specs I noted above, the truss rod is tightened all the way and I removed the shim from under the bridge saddle (why would they even put that in there? It made the action ridiculously high.).

The guitar is a lightweight guitar that weighs around 3.85 lbs (1.75 kg). It should also be noted that this model only comes with a right-hand configuration, but there is a model for left-handed as well. The names of the models give a hint about the nuances that the models feature. For example, the letter “C” in the name indicates the cutaway shape, the letter “L” signals the left-hand option, and the letters “B” and “S” are about the color variations. The letter “E” shows that the guitar is electro-acoustic and has a built-in pre-amp. Finally, the letter “M” indicates that it is a 3/4 size guitar. The guitar arrived for the most part not set up. The action was high and the truss rod set without tension. One half turn of the truss rod and removing the two shim strips under the saddle solved the problem. It could use some work at the nut also. Intonation was acceptable. But are Donner guitars like this? Or are they just cheap Chinese-made axes that don’t deserve any attention from us? Well, you’re about to discover the truth. The tuners are sealed, and it feels that they hold the tuning firmly. The nut and saddles are made out of plastic which is more than expectable from a budget guitar. They can be easily and cheaply upgraded to better material ones.

Headless Guitars have been/still indeed are all the rage. They look like something from Star Trek, and they lead to convenience and Avant guard design. In this review, I'm going to be diving into a new offering from the music gadget company Donner. This is a silent acoustic guitar that could fit most conceivable places. Also, players who want a basic acoustic guitar to play from time to time can prefer Donner DAG series. If you want an inexpensive guitar to play around with, you surely go with this model. First, some of the bad stuff. The action was too low out of the box and that caused some fret buzz and a not-so-fun time playing this axe. So I had to do a little setup before the guitar was playable. The carbon fiber looks great and seems stable. I tried leaving the guitar in the sun to heat up. It still stayed in tune and sounded fine. I may have gotten a return item because the truss rod cover is chipped and there are surface scratches from strumming. The guitar is made from a unique wood called Kauri, which produces a warm and powerful sound. The wood resonates better than mahogany and creates a higher clarity. The laminated spruce on top adds to the durability of the instrument. Carbon Fiber Soundboard] Rising-G selected the VocalTech full carbon fiber soundboard after 79 acoustic tests. Carbon Fiber's damping is constant across the acoustic spectrum, resulting in a treble that rings with crystalline clarity to a warm bass without being muddy. It releases energy more freely during vibration, that's why it brings you a richer layering of sound and prolongs resonance.
