About this deal

You can make a three-sided screen with trellis panels, either painted or left plain. To prevent them being blown away, you might want to weight them down, or attach them to the wall or fence. It’s easy to hide your bins behind a neat, well-manicured hedge. Laurel, privet, and yew hedging are the best choices for bin stores because they’re low maintenance, so they won’t take up much of your time throughout the year. Top tip: ensure you choose an evergreen hedge; otherwise, you’ll be able to see your bins for half the year! If a contemporary design is your kind of style, a red cedar bin store may be just the thing for you. Red cedar is an excellent choice for a bin store, as it’s durable in damp climates. You can trust that your cedar bin store won’t decay, shrink, warp, or swell, even in the most severe weather conditions. You couldadd a green roof to your wheelie bin storage ortake it to the next level, making it a part of the landscape by incorporating a raised bed. Add some hardy perennial plants like lavender, ornamental grasses, and hostas to keep it exciting yet low maintenance. You’re most likely going to come across either a wooden screen or plastic screen, both of which have their pros and cons. Wood is great and it looks far more natural than plastic, so it really brings an authentic feel to the garden. However, it might be more vulnerable to weather than plastic, so it may not last you as long.

Our first choice is a very classic one, a woven willow screen that would be a wonderful addition to any garden. This traditional screen comes in various sizes, and can be used to cover one, two or three wheelie bins, so there should be a model for everyone. The fact that the trellis is extendable means that you can cover as many or as few bins as you like (the construction extends to up to 1.8 metres). There are no doors or side panels, so pulling bins in and out is easy and convenient. Though there are obviously large gaps in the trellis, growing plants up it would reduce bin visibility.

About Jacksons Fencing

The panels are hinged allowing you to easily access your bins if you need to relocate them or if you just want to put the rubbish out. Each comes with its own set of wall hooks. These are used if you wish to anchor the panels onto a wall or the side of your home. And once your chosen camouflage is in place you can relax and enjoy your garden, knowing that it looks good from every angle. On top of this, since we produce our own bin stores, so we know the market well and see these kinds of products every day.

This is definitely one of the most flexible options on this list, and it's also a very affordable one. This trellis screen doesn't need to be anchored (though it can be). It can be moved easily, or if you prefer, you can simply leave it in place and use it as support for plants whilst it still covers your bins. If hiding your bins doesn’t concern you, why not create a wheelie bin zone instead? Cordon off an area using wooden panels but leave it open for easy access when you need to wheel your bins out each week. This bin storage idea offers flexibility, as you can choose a colour as subtle or outlandish as you wish. Slatted panels work wonders when attempting to hide your wheelie bins, as they conceal your unsightly bins without closing off the space, retaining your garden’s size. If you’re making a slatted panel screen yourself, keep the gaps uniform and around 18-20 mm. You can choose different woods to suit your space – ipe and teak are darker woods that work well outside, especially in more contemporary homes. On the other hand, trellising and covers won’t be as effective in screening your bins completely, but they will help them blend into the garden a lot and make it look like you’ve put the effort in to make them look good. Covers are generally cheaper though, and are definitely the best option for bin screening if you’re on a budget.Smart Garden 60cm x 180cm Expanding Solar Pre Lit Ivy Leaf Trellis Bin Screen (Best trellising option) A contemporary fence panel often used as screening; Venetian is made using horizontal pales with 15mm spaces between them. The view through the panel is not completely distorted but the panel will distract from what is behind. Weather Resistance: We all know that the weather in the UK isn't as great as it could be. That means that it's important that your screen or cover is weather resistant. Don't assume that something is just because it's in the garden section! Look for products that specifically state they are weather resistant. While concocting your wheelie bin storage ideas, consider your recycle boxes (if you have any!). These aren’t exciting to look at, either, so you may choose to incorporate recycling bin shelving in your bin storage design. If you decide to build your bin storage yourself, ensure you use treated timber – most bin stores are made from FSC timber because it’s responsibly sourced.

What better way to use a front wall than to hide your bins? This clever design has gone a step further and disguised the bins within the hedging, keeping them neatly out of the way of people walking by and out of sight from the house. You could also make the most of your front steps by incorporating a bin store if there’s space. The screening is made from 4 separate panels that are connected by easy to attach hinges on the metal frame (the front has 2 panels). When together, the screen measures 115cm high by 121cm wide and 81cm deep. The hinged side panels can be opened easily to access the bin when it is time for the refuse to be collected, and just as easy to close afterwards. Plants in containers can be positioned beside your bins. Obviously tall specimens will do the best job, as will climbers on a conical frame or trellis. Or how about a tall container, with a tall plant or even a small tree? The eye will be drawn to the flowers, fruits and foliage, not the grey plastic behind. cultivate climbers. It doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy and feels like its high quality, which is really important for wheelie bin screens since they’re going to be outside and, well frankly, next to your bins. It needs to be able to withstand quite a bit of dirt and mess, as well as not become ruined or dirty too easily when the bin gets a bit too full.

It can get really annoying when you do up the garden or the house and no matter how nice you get it looking, your wheelie bins just end up ruining it. Everyone knows this struggle and it takes away all the effort you put in, so it’s always good to find some suitable cover or item that hides away your bins and even better, blends in with the garden.

It’s a nice darkish colour and is made from natural woven material, but it has a steel frame which keeps it sturdy and supported. You can barely see the metal support too, so it just fits nicely in a garden by bringing a natural look to it. This will fit in most gardens in terms of how it looks, I would say unless you’ve got lots of stone features, then this is a screen which will fit in easily into your garden. It’s not too big either, and it even comes as separate panels that are hinged and connect at different angles, so you can modify it so that it fits your bins area nicely. If you want to completely hide bins from sight, a slatted panel can still be used but opting for one you can’t see through, such as our Venetian Hit and Miss panel. With horizontal pales attached on alternating sides of the panel, you can only see through at a downward angle meaning what is behind the panel is hidden. In second place is the best trellis screen that’s on the market currently, and whilst these sorts of screens can be used in many ways and could even just be taken from some standard garden trellising, this one is the best designed for wheelie bins. It’s a natural, I’ve leaf trellis which completely takes the attention away from the bins, and it’s perfect for screening off your bin area or even areas of the garden you don’t want on show. Planning regulations force many homes to have a shorter fence at the front of their house, so even using a solid fence panel that allows no line of sight through the panel would probably not work for hiding standard height wheelie bins. If you have a wall at the front of your house and have permission to increase the height to provide more screening, slatted fence panels are a great option as they still allow light into the house. Our Jakpost® foot allows you to install fencing onto existing hard surfaces with ease. If you want to know how to increase the height of an existing boundary you can read our blog here. Hiding bins with a wheelie bin storeBoth screens and covers are pretty basic, so you shouldn't be too overwhelmed with features. However, there are a few things you can look for when comparing different models: This wheelie bin screen can help keep your driveway looking smart, keeping plastic bins covered up with an attractive willow panel.
